Xiaohongshu posts fail in a specific way: the content is fine and nobody taps. The first decision point is the cover and title, not the body. So reverse the order. Lock the cover line first, then write the content.
Who this is for
Good fit
- Knowledge, tool and experience posts: tutorials, checklists, pitfalls, comparisons
- Producing several posts a day with consistent output
- You have real experience but no patience for layout
Bad fit
- Strong persona or emotional accounts. AI reads like a manual
- Categories that need real photos (outfits, restaurants, food)
- Expecting it to know platform rules. It copies structure, it cannot guarantee compliance
Steps
1. Install
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/sickn33/agentic-awesome-skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/nexu-io/open-designCopy skills/xiaohongshu-content-strategist/ and skills/card-xiaohongshu/ into your client skills directory.
2. Lock the cover line first
Ask for eight cover titles under 12 characters, ban filler phrases such as "ultimate guide" or "save this", and require one line on who each title attracts. Pick one and edit it until you would tap it.
3. Then write the body
First two lines state the payoff, paragraphs of three lines max, up to five numbered points, one concrete next step at the end, at most three emoji, and five hashtags with the first two as core keywords.
4. Lay it out as cards
Render 3:4 cards: cover uses the locked title at a large size, one point per inner page, one accent colour. The card template is HTML, so open it in a browser and screenshot page by page.
5. Manual pass before posting
Check for absolute claims, check that every number has a source, and confirm the title and cover say the same thing.
Traps
| Trap | Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Cover too long | Truncated on mobile | Hard 12-character limit, preview on a phone |
| AI-flavoured titles | "Ultimate guide", "save this" | Name and ban those phrases |
| Body reads like a blog | Long paragraphs | Require three lines per paragraph |
| Text overflow in cards | Clipped glyphs | One point per page, cut words first |
| No personal experience | Reads like an encyclopedia | Open with what you actually did |
FAQ
Can I batch ten a day? You can, but do not. Two to three with rotating templates performs better.
Must images be AI generated? No. Cards suit knowledge posts; photo-driven categories lose trust with AI images.
Can I post AI copy as is? Yes, but add one sentence of your own experience. Pure AI copy reads worse.
How many hashtags? Two core keywords, two scene words, one broad. Ten does nothing.
Can I resize the cards? Yes, the template is HTML. 3:4 is the common ratio.

Social content AI pipeline (translated)
The biggest lever in social content is the topic — communities widely agree "topic decides 60%+ of a post's success". Have AI mine last-7-day hits for direction first, then run topic → script → image/video → multi-platform → review. Far better than staring at a blank page.
Write technical blogs and long-form with AI
The worst tech blog is "copy the docs" or "fluff padding". The point of AI: give it your real experience/pitfalls (the unique value), let it handle structure, examples, polish — not invent stuff you never did.
